UNESCO

Two-thirds of secondary school pupils and more than half of primary school pupils worldwide do not get taught the minimum weekly amount of physical education, according to the first-ever Global Status Report on Quality Physical Education published recently by UNESCO. On the eve of the opening of the Paris 2024 Games, the Director-General of UNESCO invited sports ministers to the organization's Paris headquarters to make physical education an educational priority.

The COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on student focus remains a persistent concern, with a quarter of public school leaders reporting a “severe negative impact” on student learning due to lack of focus or inattention in the 2023-24 school year. In these areas, children use their entire bodies to walk a brightly painted sensory path.
